It's not necessary to be in the same room, but it is necessary that you can see each other because that is required for good communication and good communication is central for good psychotherapy. So the primary issue is not the emotional pain, the core emotion itself, it's the reactivity to it that causes the emotional suffering and that prevents the core emotion from healing.


So Mindfulness Therapy is about developing a very direct, conscious, mindful relationship with the underlying emotions that are affecting your experience, that are determining the quality of your life, that are affecting your well-being.

Medications to not treat the underlying cause of anxiety. At best they may provide a temporary reduction in the symptoms of anxiety, but they don't treat the underlying cause, so medication is not a long term solution. The only effective long term solution is to learn how to work with your mind, with the thoughts and beliefs, memories and habitual emotional reactivity that feeds your anxiety or depression or addiction.
