Everyone that I have seen over the years really likes the mindfulness approach that I teach for healing emotional suffering…
“I have found though that, no matter what life happens to throw at you, mindfulness practice creates a virtuous loop of compassion, wisdom and self-esteem as opposed to a viscous circle of emotional reactivity and its implications. I have recently completed reading Peter’s book and it’s a very helpful and practical guide to understanding and deepening mindfulness practice that I would highly recommend.”

The system that I offer online is called mindfulness therapy, which is extremely effective for treating anxiety and depression and also it's very helpful for helping you manage the underlying emotions that are fueling addiction. And I make a big point of this. You must heal those underlying core emotions that fuel your anxiety, depression or addiction if you are to really fully recover from these emotional disorders.
This process is much easier than you might think, and most of my clients see quite dramatic changes after three to four sessions. It does not take years of therapy to learn how to manage anxiety, depression or addiction. What it takes is practical, focused strategic approaches to working with the core emotions that fuel anxiety, depression and addiction, and that's what I will teach you during mindfulness therapy sessions.
I will teach you how to apply mindfulness to work with these emotional states, to work with intrusive thoughts and reactive beliefs and so on, using mindfulness, so that you don't become a slave to your mind, so that you can overcome those patterns of reactive thinking.
This is central in mindfulness teaching: how to be with your emotions or thoughts or beliefs without becoming overwhelmed by them. And this is something I will train you in doing, so that you can sit with anxiety and not become anxious. You can sit with depression and not become depressed. You can sit with the compulsive impulses driving an addiction without becoming overwhelmed by those compulsive impulses.
And this is the first step a first essential step that you learn in the first two to three sessions of mindfulness therapy. We call this the "liberating effect of mindfulness." It basically liberates you from that habit of being blindly overwhelmed by thoughts and emotional reactions.
The second part of mindfulness therapy and training is learning how to respond to those core emotions in a way that brings about their healing and mindfulness therapy is very much about promoting inner the healing of core anxiety or depression or addiction.

And I've seen people for over 20 years now and helped hundreds of people overcome anxiety, depression and addiction using the methods of mindfulness therapy.

Most of my clients have tried medications and conventional talk therapy / counseling but have not received the relief they want. This is understandable, because mediations and indirect talking about your emotions is not sufficient to change the underlying habitual process that creates and feeds anxiety and depression. You need to address these directly, and this is the focus of Mindfulness Therapy, the approach that I favor and find to be most effective for producing lasting change.
I specialize in mindfulness therapy. Mindfulness is an extremely effective way of changing habits. It allows you to develop a conscious and compassionate relationship with your emotions and with your thoughts. And this is essential. You have to learn how to sit with your emotions and thoughts without becoming identified with them and without becoming reactive. If you can do that then you stop feeding those habits, basically.
And this creates the ideal conditions whereby the habit of anxiety or depression or any other emotional psychological form of suffering will begin to resolve itself. If you don't feed it it will resolve itself. Also if you stop feeding it and you establish a good relationship with your emotions then you're in a much better position to be able to help your emotions resolve themselves.
You learn how to interact with them with more consciousness and more compassion the same way that you might relate to a child or another person who is in pain. If you are reactive you are not going to be able to help them overcome their emotional suffering. You have to be non-reactive in your relationship to them and it's exactly the same with our emotions.
We have to learn to be non-reactive in relationship to our anxiety of fear of panic or depression or obsessions with the ever emotional suffering that you are experiencing. You have to establish a good relationship with them then you can actually help those emotions change themselves and heal. This is one of the central themes in Mindfulness Therapy is building this relationship.
And the second important concept for you to understand is that your anxiety, your depression, your suffering is already trying to heal itself. It's only because of the problem of reactivity that gets in the way of it healing itself. So that's a very important thing to understand. It's not so much us trying to fix or change her anxiety or depression, it's allowing them to change and heal in a natural way by themselves, and the less reactive you become the the more this happens.
So, if you'd like to talk to a therapist online do please go to my website and learn more about this online therapy service and then contact me and we can schedule a session and you can see for yourself the power of developing mindfulness in relationship to your emotions. Thank you.

Traditional counseling can be useful, but often it does not look at the underlying psychological process that is the real cause of your emotional suffering.
This also applies to the use of medications - a drug may provide temporary relief from symptoms for a while, but medications are not effective for transforming the underlying psychological process that causes your emotional pain.
The style of psychotherapy that I teach online is called Mindfulness Therapy, which is quite successful for handling chronic anxiety and for treating chronic depression and other common psychological difficulties caused by conditioned negative thinking. Most of my students notice measurable reduction in the level of anxiety and depression after the first couple of sessions of Skype Therapy.
If you are experiencing anxiety or panic attacks or depression you may consider talking to a therapist online. Seeing a therapist online is a very good and very convenient way of getting help and it's generally a lot less intimidating than going to see a therapist in person. So if you'd like to talk to a therapist online do please go to my website and then learn more about this process of Skype counseling that I offer and then e-mail me and we can schedule a time when we can have an online therapy session.
So the advantages of talking to a therapist online, as I said are ones of convenience and also it's much more comfortable for you. But it also helps you develop a better understanding of how to work with the mind.
So during the online therapy sessions I teach you very effective mindfulness-based methods for working with anxiety and depression. Most of my clients suffer from either anxiety or depression and they benefit tremendously when they start practicing the mindfulness techniques that I teach.
The central most important thing is to learn how to develop a conscious and friendly relationship with your emotions. The biggest mistake that I see over and over again is that people develop an aversion to their anxiety or depression, they run away from their emotions or they find them or they react to their anxiety with anger or hostility or resistance or self-criticism, etc.
The process of reactivity feeds the anxiety or depression. It only begins to change when you change your relationship to your emotions, so that's why it's so important to develop conscious and frankly relationship with your emotions. Then you create the right conditions in which they can change.
And this is the whole basis of mindfulness therapy we learned to actually meditate on our anxiety and on how depression and any other emotions or thoughts that create suffering in the mind. We learned to develop balance in relationship to our emotions and our thoughts.
Learn how to break free from this process of habitual reactivity that feeds the anxiety or depression. When you do that then you stop feeding the fire of the anxiety or depression or any other emotion. When you stop feeding it, it begins to change and it begins to heal. So the second part of mindfulness therapy is learning how to help it heal, how to help your anxiety or depression heal itself.
And I will teach you exactly how to do this during these online therapy sessions. So, if you'd like to talk to a therapist online and you'd like to learn more about online psychotherapy in general, then please go to my website, and when you are ready to start you can email me and we can schedule a Skype therapy session. Thank you.

Welcome! My name is Peter Strong. I'm a professional psychotherapist and I specialize in online therapy that I offer via Skype.
So if you like the idea of talking to a therapist online rather than in person, if you like the greater convenience and also the greater privacy offered by online therapy, then do please reach out to me by email.
If you're looking for psychological help with anxiety or depression or addiction or other emotional problems that benefit from psychotherapy and you like the idea of learning how to work with your emotions more effectively without resorting to medications, then please contact me and let's schedule a trial Skype therapy session.
Most of my clients really prefer online therapy to meeting a therapist in person. It is just so much more convenient and it's more comfortable too for you. You can conduct your therapy sessions from the comfort of your home, or place of work if you can find a quiet place at work to conduct your sessions.
The other advantage is that it's generally much more effective when working with anxiety conditions, and for people suffering from agoraphobia, online therapy is quite essential.
So the style of psychotherapy that I teach online is called Mindfulness Therapy. And this is a system of psychotherapy that I developed some years ago now and it uses a lot of mindfulness and Buddhist teachings as a way of learning how to better manage our emotions and our thoughts, and so on.
So the biggest problem that I come across when working with people suffering from anxiety or depression or addiction or OCD is this problem whereby you become identified with the emotions or thoughts or beliefs or memories in the mind. This process of reactive identification, as I call it, is really at the center of emotional suffering, whether it's anxiety or depression.
So all emotions are basically habits that get started in the mind, often in childhood. So an emotion like anxiety or depression or shame or low self-esteem, these get started in childhood. This is well known. The child is not able to process these emotions so they tend to get stuck and they grow and then we develop layers and layers of identification around these emotions, these core emotions as we call them.
So in Mindfulness Therapy we spend a lot of time really developing a different kind of relationship with these emotions so that instead of just identifying with your anxiety or fear or guilt or shame or depression we learn to see those emotions as objects in the mind. We developed what is called objective consciousness. And this is quite different than this subject of consciousness that occurs when you become identified with your emotions.
The problem is not so much in the mind itself, it is in our identification with these mental objects. The way that we just fall in to our emotions and we become prisoners of those emotions. We become controlled by our anxiety or depression or addiction.
So breaking free from this reactive identification is a vital process in any form of psychotherapy, and it's the very first thing that we focus on in Mindfulness Therapy.
So when we bring objective consciousness or mindfulness to bear on thoughts then we are able to essentially break free from the habit of reacting. So we can break the habit of reactive thinking that feeds the anxiety or depression.
There are lots of other things we do in mindfulness therapy. I won't describe them all now, but one other thing to consider, and something that I will teach during these sessions, is working with the imagery of the emotions.
So emotional imagery is critical and we look very carefully at the emotional imagery of your emotions, how they actually work. When you are able to see this imagery you can change it.
So we work a lot with imagery and this is very, very effective indeed, especially with traumatic memories.
This approach is very, very effective. It's very direct. It's very focused. It's quite different than conventional counseling. It is really looking at the mechanism that generates your emotional suffering and then changing it.
