Description: Our Easy French is exactly that - easy. It may look a little different, but from its crusty crust to its light, chewy interior, it tastes great. This recipe was created for machines without a French bread baking cycle: it mixes, rises and bakes entirely in your machine. Or you can make a traditional loaf from this recipe using our Picnic Basket process instructions on page 138.
Success Hints:
To develop the crisp crust that French bread is known for, turn the machine off and reset it after the first knead cycle is completed. This gives the bread extra kneading time and results in a crisp crust.
When the bread comes out of the machine, the crust color may look light to you. This is normal for this loaf.
This recipe can be used with regular and rapid bake cycles.
