Here is the 2018 BBC Spring Schedule. This is just a reminder that the Huron Fringe Birding Festival plays a big part in our spring schedule, with many of us running it, volunteering as coordinators, and being hike leaders for it. If you would like to be a coordinator, Carole and Norma are still looking for volunteers. They can be contacted at carolelupton@yahoo.ca or pepper.nanni@sympatico.ca Arlene Richards is running the silent auction at the festival, so have a look around your house to see what valuable goods that you are no longer using, and can offer as a silent auction item(s). What is new in the schedule, is that we have Kiah volunteering for his first gig as a hike leader. Kiah has been keeping track of what was seen when, over the last year, and he is already making plans for his outing. For those that don’t know Kiah, he will be the youngest hike leader in BBC history. Kiah, also is hoping that the T-shirts and hats that you have ordered, will be ready for the next BBC hike on March 21, led by James Turland. So if you ordered anything, please bring cash to cover your purchase.

The 2018 schedule is below. I want to thank the hike leaders, past and present, for volunteering and helping us with our quest for finding birds. These events not only turn out to be informational, but also provide a great place to meet, socialize and carry on our friendships. Details of the hikes will be posted by the individual hike leaders by the Monday before a hike, if not earlier. Finishing on a note of optimism, I predict that no hikes will need to be cancelled by wintery weather. I probably just cursed us in the weather department.

April 18 - Bonnie Patterson-Collins - Annual Birding and Food Orgy - a dawn to dusk, birding and potluck event

May 2 - James Turland - focusing on Pelee North.

May 16 - Judith King - Warblers.

May 25 to May 28, and May 31 to June 3 - the Huron Fringe Birding Festival.

June 6 - Alfred Raab

June 20 - Doug Pedwell.
