A weather window opened in a rainy week allowing old, new and regular members to enjoy the day. Starting at the Saugeen Amphitheatre we discovered a few chance species such as Ruffed Grouse, Great Egret, Osprey and Northern Shrike. At Miramichi two Sand Hill Cranes made a dramatic entrance landing right in front, then displayed courtship ritual dancing. Merlins were seen at five different locations. In Port Elgin we payed homage to the branch where Bob Taylor captured the Eurasian. The inner basin of Baia du Dore was jammed with gulls and mergansers and several immature Eagles sitting on the stones. Soup at the Turland residence was appreciated and we got a chance to walk in the garden and see the hellebores and pussy willows in bloom . Lots of ducks at the Kincardine lagoons but mostly distant views. The elusive Fox Sparrow was the final bird of the hike. Great camaraderie. Cheers James
