Hi All; The Kincardine lagoons really earned its Pelee of the North name today. There are only a few select days each year when the birding is this good. We hadn't but stepped down the trail a few feet when things started happening. Birds were getting called out so fast our stenographer (Mary Anne Knowles) didn't get a chance to look up for several minutes. The warblers started out high in the trees but with patience almost everyone got good looks at 10 warbler species. Including blazing Blackburnians, trunk clinging Black + Whites and both Black-throated Blues and Greens. Considering none of these birds were here yesterday we are fortunate our hike was a day late. The weather was equally pleasant and because the leaves haven't unfurled yet viewing was easier. Nearly the whole morning passed at just this one site. A quick stop down at the lake where the warblers were also in abundance but not diversity. Lunch was at Carmells in Tiverton were we enjoyed a smorgasbord with exquisite desserts. Then a hike through the newly developed Tiverton Veteran Trail. The camaraderie was wonderful the weather supreme and the birding excellent. What more could one ask for.
