Hi Everyone,
Fourteen people participated in a well led hike by Eric which focused on migrating shorebirds. Thank you Eric for sharing your expertise with us. You found us some great birds. Thank you for taking the time to scout and prepare us for the birds that we might see.
We spent between 9:30 AM to !2:15 birding the wetlands at Mitchell and had lunch at a nearby park. The two best birds of the day were the White-rumped Sandpiper and the Stilt Sandpiper. We saw 11 species of shorebirds. Not bad, eh! The waterfowl were in their eclipse phase but the expertise of the group managed to identify them all. 47 species of birds were seen.
The weather had temperatures of 15 to 17 C but the 30 k winds made it feel colder than it was. The overcast sky did not hinder the excellent visibility.
