Lynne led her first hike for the BBC today. We all enjoyed her leadership, her birding expertise and her organization. Thank you for taking this on, Lynne. It is a great area to bird and we are happy that you showed us the way. She took us to new places that the birding club has never been to before; that is always a big hit with the members. We had 43 people participating, and she didn’t lose a soul. Thank you for a great day. of birding and fun.

The waterfowl migration is underway and Lynne focussed her hike on this fact. By the end of the day we saw 22 species of waterfowl. The bird of the day was a Harlequin Duck found at the west side of Collingwood Harbour. Ralph said, “We get to see that bird once a year,” and as it flew away, “I guess that’s it until next year.” By the end of the day we saw 44 species of birds.

The weather was sunny with a high of 23 C.and virtually no wind. Our spirits and laughter matched the wonderful day we were given.
