Hi BBC; On Wednesday October 16 the club met at the boathouse. We quickly moved to the Independent Pond in search of a Eurasian Wigeon that had been seen there the past two days and more. Waterfowl were plentiful and relatively close making it a great place to study the different duck species. There were 9 species including Gadwalls,Shovelers and Pintails but no Eurasian. At Mirimichi shorebirds were scattered over the low water level flats. Dunlins scurried clockwork like while Blackbellied Plovers would more decidedly take a few steps and stop. Several Greater Yellowlegs appeared out of the long grasses. A lone Surf Scoter gave us good scope views as it fed diving near some Mute Swans. A head hiding swan at the Saugeen River mouth turned out to be a Mute. We tried one more time at the Independent Pond but still no Eurasian. Chalmers Pond was overflowing with Canada Geese, not leaving much room, except for one Lesser Yellowlegs and a couple of ducks. On the backroads some adrenalin was pumping as a distant dihedral glider into a Golden Eagle. False alarm turned out to be a Turkey Vulture. We ate our lunch at Becky and James' while being entertained by the feeder birds. The afternoon was spent at the Kincardine Lagoons. There were lots of Robins and Hermit Thrushes eating plenty of fruit. A Cooper's Hawk remained perched long enough to get looks. A few Bonaparte's Gulls and a handful of ducks completed the day. Thanks to Simon for keeping the ebird checklists. Check out the ebird Trip Report. https://ebird.org/tripreport/285092
