What a wonderful finish to the last day of BBC birding before the summer. The birds were cooperative and the rapport, warmth and friendliness within our group was priceless. The potluck planned by Stew and Doug was a fine hit to embrace the mood of happiness found within our group. The euphoria of finding the Sedge Wren before the gathering for supper also added to the mood. The food was delicious and plentiful In spite of being a dessert specialist, I was just not up to the job of trying all of the tasty treats that were presented. Life does have some disappointments.
Thank you to our hike leaders today who pulled off this stellar event. Stew and Doug, your planning for arranging the the birds we saw and the potluck was exemplary. Alfred's find of the Sedge Wren was appreciated by all.

The best bird of the day was the Sedge Wren with the last one seen by the BBC about 5 years ago when we saw one at the Carden Alvar. The second best was the Peregrine Falcon. The Upland Sandpiper and the Sandhill Cranes with 2 offspring were not too shabby of finds either.
The weather was overcast, with temperatures feeling cool near the lake and comfortable elsewhere. The rain and wind held off until we were done.
If anyone would like complete directions to find the Sedge Wren's location, please let me know in a separate email.
