Point Clark marks the southern most boundary of the Lake Huron shoreline in Bruce County. At the point itself there is a lighthouse museum and small boat harbor. This area is highly developed with cottages but the shoreline can be accessed by a number of public walkways. Depending on water levels different habitats are created. At low levels like the present(2011) there is favorable places for shorebirds. One of the best shorebird stops is at the public walkway 1.5 klm south of the lighthouse. The signs for many walkways are obscured by vegetation so you have to look closely. The lighthouse parking area is a good place to do a lake watch. When birds are moving along the lake they are often closest to shore here. In both spring and fall Red-throated Loons can be seen diving and if you are real lucky a Purple Sandpiper may turn up on the rocks of the harbor just before freeze up.
