Twenty-five birders visited the Greenock Swamp area under warm and sunny
skies until later in the afternoon when heavy rain ended the day of birding.
Fifty-six species of birds were located by driving roads through the
interior of the wetlands as well as perimeter roads in non-accessible areas.
Short walks and stops at various locations also provided some birds.

This was a very birdy day. The night before I had a possible Fish Crow at Horton Point and so went down there at 6 AM to see if it would reappear. No Crow but I did see 38 species before I went out to meet Ralph at MacDonalds. We met the main BBC group at Glammis and there were lots of birds around. By the time we got to our first stop it was 9AM and things were starting to quiet down. Birds are hard to find in the Greenock Swamp because it covers such a large area. Many of the lakes are so acidic they don't harbor much wildlife. The truly amazing stat for this day is the 81 species seen by the group collectively for the whole day. Birds as diverse as Snowy Owl and Rose-breasted Grosbeak
