Thank you to Margaret and Liz for looking after us so well today. You provided enjoyable treats, drinks and a nice place to have our lunches and enjoy each others company. Thank you both for your great hospitality and your leadership in the field.
We had 31 people come out today in what was a glorious spring day. We collected 53 species of birds for our list. We had a wide variety of migrants and to me it was nice to see the Rusty Blackbirds show up on cue. The leaders goal was to find some sandhill cranes and we did as we saw 10 of them passing overhead and heard others at our first stop. While the waterfowl migration hasn't started in earnest yet, we did see a total of 14 species most of which were summer residents.
The weather was grand with a high of 20, light winds and the sun shone brightly all day.
