2017 Summary

Hi BBC; Brief recap of BBC birding in 2017. Two of the 214 species seen this year were BBC `Lifers` bringing the all-time list to 299. Kiah our youngest member made a memorable entry and added some great birds including our first ever Glossy Ibis. Bob and Anne-Marie flourished in their leading of several hikes and found our second new addition for the year, a Connecticut Warbler. Unfortunately due to the `powers that be` we also lost a species when Thayer's Gull was lumped with the Iceland Gull so we end the year with 298.

What a special day at Bonnie`s with an amazing 92 species seen. Fred also had a big day finding 94 species on the first hike in June. I do not have all the numbers for the Berford Bash but it was a great success! The Niagara trip added 8 new species including the Black-legged Kittiwakes that Kiah found while we lunched at ``Hutches``. We continued birding until the last Ring-necked Pheasant was added, found the Kincardine Christmas Bird Count. Thanks to all the leaders and participants for making this a wonderful year! A warm welcome to all of the new members. Good luck at Saugeen Shores tomorrow on the first BBC hike of the year.

PS. Following is my current list of members. Please check to see if your information is correct. If you would like your name removed or your email or name needs updating contact Fred or myself.
