HI Everyone,
Thank you Judy and Jim for leading us on a great hike that featured Green Herons who didn't seem to want to follow us all day. Opening up with a Juvenile Black-crowned Heron as a starter bird in Tiny Marsh Tower was a good sign.
We had a fun filled day seeing 49 species on the day. We thought we had a Lincoln's Sparrow and had it nailed pretty well until Sibley told us that the Lincoln's Sparrows were identical to Juvenile Swamp sparrows. Dreams of adding a new bird to the BBC's year list ended up in laughter. We also debated a Male Mallard in eclipse plumage. He had a blue bill and that to led to other smiling-like speculation. We are not going to discuss that Common Moorhen.
The temperatures ranged from 7 C to 17 C. The day was sunny and the wind on occasion blew at about 20 K.
An enjoyable outing with a lot of laughs and smiles.
All birds were seen at Tiny Marsh with the odd very common bird very common seen en route.
