Thank you Liz and Margaret for leading us on this great day and thank you Margaret for your hospitality in having us over for lunch in your home and with, Liz providing us with all sorts of goodies and beverages. Considering we had 33 people out that luncheon was quite an accomplishment that was seamlessly done.
We found 49 species of birds on the day and if there was a bird that we kept bumping into it, it was the flocks of Sandhill Cranes who seemed to be mustering in groups in preparation for migration. They will probably be there for a few more weeks. We also had good luck with Horned Grebes along the Lake shore near Southampton.
The weather ranged from 16 to 22 C. and there was light intermittent rain in the morning followed by sunshine by the end of the day. The winds were moderate.
I listed the location of only a few birds since we covered a lot of ground. Most of the waterfowl were found on the lake, the Independent Pond and High Hill Road near Elsinore.
