Hi Everyone,
As the novel starts out, "It was a dark and gloomy day,” but for the 15 of us that came to participate, the gloom seemed to last only minutes. The poor excuse for drizzle quickly turned into no rain. and we finally finished the day in sunshine. Sunshine is a key word in describing today’s event. It felt like sunshine that in October, we had 70 species of birds listed by the end of day. It felt like sunshine that we found 8 warbler species including Black and White and Bay-breasted, and that we managed to see 15 species of waterfowl. And it definitely felt like sunshine under the leadership of Bob and Anne-Marie guiding us to a successful birding day that we all enjoyed. This is the last sunshine statement that I will make, but sunshine is a great way to describe the hospitality of the our leaders when at lunch, they treated us to coffee, soup, and a myriad of desserts. All this happened in a stunning venue that came with a gorgeous view.
What a great way for Doug Martin to spend his 65th birthday!
Thank you to Kiah and Anne-Marie who collaborated in keeping the day’s bird list for us, and to Bob for putting the two lists, complete wit locations together.
The weather was cool with temperatures varying between 14 and 12 C. The day was mostly overcast with sunshine at the end. Winds were light at about 20 KPH.
