When we arrived at the Boat House in the morning, Kiah, announced he saw Glossy Ibis on the Mar Road, 1/2 a K from the gas station, heading towards Sky Lake. Birding plans for the day were quickly altered and we went out to look for them. This would be a new BBC record, and 10 years since a Glossy Ibis has been seen on the Bruce Peninsula. And there they were, all 3 of them, giving us great looks in a field with Canada Goose. Kiah’s first application to the Ontario Rare Bird Committee will be submitted at the age of 15. We watched these birds for at least an hour before they moved to the east heading towards Sky Lake. Congratulations, Kiah!
Thank you Bonnie for hosting us, and letting us finally search for some land birds on this day. Also, thank you, Margaret for keeping the list. A of course, thank you Kiah for the ibis.
The temperature was between 12 and 18 C. At times it was overcast, some non disturbing, light rain and some sunny skies. The winds were light.
