First of all, a big thank you to everyone who was able to participate this year. Your help is always appreciated. There were 24 counters in total (plus 3 feeder watchers) and we noted 55 species (plus 3 count week) and 7577 individual birds. I would say our weather day was a huge improvement over last year. We had volunteers from the near Toronto area, Owen Sound, Kincardine, MacGregor Point and of course, Saugeen Shores.
Andrew tells me he has completed 12 counts this year. Oh to be younger and have that kind of energy! His contribution to this citizen science program should be recognized.
I have attached an excel file of our results. If you have problems with reading it, I can send it as a pdf, but excel doesn't convert as well. If anyone wants the 15 year summary, let me know and I will send it along.
If you have nothing better to do at 6:50am tomorrow, Wednesday, morning, you can listen to CBC - Wai Chen - where an interview is being held with Al Sinclair from Gravenhurst area and me. All about Chris.mas Bird Counts!
Looking at the calendar, the Saugeen Shores Christmas Bird Count should be January 1, 2020. This is the last Wednesday of the count period. We will not hold it that day, but will defer to Thursday, January 2, 2020, unless someone has a huge problem with this!! I have marked this in my calendar.
