Hi Everyone,
We had a sterling 3 days of birding in Hamilton, Niagara Falls, Niagara-on-the-Lake, and Fifty Point Conservation area, with a 2 night stay at the Ramada on the River Hotel in Niagara Falls. Experienced birders, and their many eyes held a promise of seeing many great birds, in the winter, the season of slower birding. We had some wonderful sightings, Razor Bill, Red-throated Loon, all 3 scoters, a Northern Mockingbird, Glaucous Gull, Lesser Black-backed Gull, Northern Saw-whet Owl, 3 Swan Species, and wonderful views of Black Vulture, both sitting and flying. Things were not perfect; we got held up at the Burlington Canal by two ships and got behind schedule, and sadly for us, the Little Gull was missing in action.
The weather was above freezing and sunny most of the time. The rain held off until the group left Fifty Point Conservation Area.
Niagara Falls is beautiful in itself, but add the incredible Christmas light display, the town falls second to no one. The Dufferin Islands Xmas display is a wonder to behold.
