SMGT 504 Discussion Board Forums (8)

Discussion boards are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, in each module/week, the student will be presented with a topic or set of questions to which he/she will post a thread of at least 500 words. In that same module/week, the student will read at least 1 other classmate’s thread and post a 250-word reply that further enhances the discussion. The topics presented are based upon textbook reading, online articles, Scripture, and sport ministry concepts.

SMGT 504 Article Critiques (4)

The student will write 4 Article Critiques based on peer-reviewed journal articles found via the Liberty University Online Library. Each critique will include a summary of the article’s purpose, significant findings (if any), and an explanation of how the article relates to the textbook readings as well as to the subject of sport ministry. For each critique, the student must reserve an article by claiming it in the Discussion Board Forum. The selected article must pertain to the topics discussed in the assigned modules/weeks. Once the topic is reserved and the article critique is completed, it will be submitted via SafeAssign (a plagiarism detection tool) in Blackboard. Each Article Critique must be 2½–3 pages and adhere to current APA format.

SMGT 504 Research Paper

SMGT 504 Annotated Bibliography

The student will write a formal research paper on one of the topics covered during the course. Prior to submitting the final draft, the student will research his/her topic and submit an annotated bibliography that lists 5 peer-reviewed sources. APA citations are required. Each annotation must include a summary of the source’s main ideas, how it relates to the selected topic, and any quotes that will be used in the paper. Lastly, it will include an evaluation of the author’s background and a brief description of the author’s intended audience.

SMGT 504 Outline

The student will create a 1–2-page outline that details each major section of his/her paper. The outline will include the title page, abstract, introduction, body, conclusion, and references. The outline’s structure must serve as a blueprint for the final draft as it will map out where the citations will be placed and assist in the development of the paper’s supporting ideas.

SMGT 504 Final Draft

The student may select any topic featured in the course and write a 13–15-page Research Paper that discusses current issues and includes academic research. The paper must be written using current APA format. Five peer-reviewed sources must be cited throughout the work. The Final Draft must be composed in a Word document and submitted via SafeAssign, a plagiarism-detection tool used in Blackboard.

SMGT 504 Tests (4)

The student will take 4 open-book/open-notes exams in this course. Each test will consist of 40 multiple-choice and true/false questions that will cover the material from the assigned readings in the textbooks. There will be a 1-hour and 15-minute time limit.
