Reflective discussion boards are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to create a thread in response to the provided prompt for each forum. Each thread must be 400–600 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to at least 3 classmates’ threads. Each reply must be at least 200 words. Any sources used must be cited in current Turabian format.
The student will write 2 Book Critiques of 750–1,000 words each on the books listed below. The student must review the Book Critique Instructions for more details. Book Critique 1 will be on Servants of the Servant: A Biblical Theology of Leadership by Don Howell. Book Critique 2 will be on Shepherds After My Own Heart: Pastoral Traditions and Leadership in the Bible by Timothy S. Laniak.
The student will write an Annotated Bibliography in preparation for the Biblical Leadership Paper. This bibliography must include an anticipated thesis statement and a bibliography of at least 20 related works. This bibliography must contain at least 5 books and at least 5 articles related directly to the anticipated thesis, and it must contain no more than 5 websites (not including e-books or scholarly articles found online). Any website used must have a direct, unique, and relevant bearing on the specific paper or research topic and how it will be utilized. For each source, the student must write a 150–200-word description, explain the general content of the source and how it contributes to the research topic.
The student will submit a 4,000–5,000-word research paper on an assigned topic that focuses on developing a biblical theology on pastoral leadership. The student will have the opportunity to choose a topic from a predetermined list and submit it early in the course for instructor approval. No more than 2 students will be permitted to select the same topic. The student must demonstrate strong critical reflection on the subject and accurate handling of the biblical text. The paper must also contain at least 20 sources.
