OTCL 511 Vocabulary Quizzes (8)
The student will complete eight weekly vocabulary quizzes, based on the provided weekly vocabulary lists. Since vocabulary is vital to the student’s success, these quizzes ensure core learning is taking place. (MLO: A, B, C, D, E, F)
OTCL 511 Textbook and Translation Quizzes (4)
The student will complete 4 open-book/open-note quizzes. The quizes will have a 30-minute time limit and will consist of 10-12 true/false, multiple-choice, and fill in the blank questions based on the reading from the textbook. These quizzes will also contain 4-5 clauses/sentences for translation based on the vocabulary up to that point in the course. (MLO: B, D, F)
OTCL 511 Discussion Board Forums (2)
Discussion boards are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to create a thread in response to the provided prompt for each forum. Each thread must be at least 400 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to 2 other classmates’ threads. Each reply must be at least 200 words. (MLO: B, D)
OTCL 511 Word Studies (2)
The student will write two word studies in current Turabian format that focus on the prompts provided in the course. All external sources must be footnoted in current Turabian format. (MLO: B, D)
The first word study will be an analysis of the first word of the first psalm in our Bible based upon the Word Study Process discussed in Chapter 5 of Dr. Roden’s book. Complete a Word Study of at least 600 words. Complete the study using the steps in Chapter 5 as headings for your paper and type each heading in bold letters.
The second word study will expand to an analysis of the phrase “the fear of the LORD” limiting the study to the first two chapters of the book of Proverbs based upon the Word Study Process discussed in Chapter 5 of Dr. Roden’s book. Complete a Phrase Study of at least 600 words. Use the steps in Chapter 5 of his book as headings for your paper and type each heading in bold letters. Context will play a very important place in discovering what Solomon meant by this phrase. This study is broader than a single word study.
OTCL 511 Exegetical Paper (1)
The student will write one research-based exegetical paper in current Turabian format on the provided passage. The paper is to be 4–5 pages. The paper must include a word study of a significant Hebrew word in the verse. The paper must include at least 4 external sources in addition to the assigned readings and the Bible. All external sources must be footnoted in current Turabian format. (MLO: A, B, C, D)
