BIBL 110 - New Testament Survey

BIBL 110 Discussion Board Forums (2)

The student will complete two Discussion Board Forums. Discussion Boards are integrative and collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student will create a thread in response to the instructor’s prompt, provided for each forum. The threads must be at least 250 words (no more than 300 words) and demonstrate course-related knowledge, using the course texts to support the content. In addition to the thread, the student will reply to at least 2 other classmates’ threads. Each reply must be 75–100 words. BIBL 110 Reflective Reading Journals (2)

The student will complete two Reflective Reading Journals that allow the exploration of the micro-reading process in its engagement of the New Testament. Consulting The Essence of the New Testament, the student will answer questions about their readings, submitting them in a community journal. (MLO: A, C, D) (FSLO: CC 3)

BIBL 110 Biblical Research Process Assignment (2)

The student will complete two Biblical Research Process Assignments (connected to the New Testament Bible Study Assignment) that allow him or her to learn the process of academic formatting and writing, building toward the full completion of New Testament Bible Study Assignment in Module 6. BIBL 110 New Testament Bible Study Assignment

The student will complete the NT Bible Study Assignment, where they will demonstrate correct use of the hermeneutical method in order to properly study and understand a passage of Scripture. The students will seek to discover what can be learned regarding the questions of Jesus in the Gospel narratives, applying the various steps when he or she is studying using the technique of observation, interpretation, correlation, and application. In this assignment, students will also relate the particular passage to the redemptive narrative of Scripture. Rather than using the typical research paper format, this assignment will be completed using a template developed from Everyday Bible Study. In order to fully complete the NT Bible Study Assignment, the student will consult, interact with, and document the course text Everday Bible Study, as well as at least 3 additional scholarly sources. BIBL 110 Quizzes (3)

The student will complete three learning assessments in the form of quizzes. Each quiz will utilize a comprehensive study guide to prepare the student, and it will cover the key facts for each New Testament book found in The Essence of the New Testament. These assessments will be open-book/open-notes, contain multiple-choice and matching questions, and have a time limit. (MLO: A, B) (FSLO: CC 2)

BIBL 110 Extra Credit – General Education Assessment Test

Students will complete a 28-question General Education Assessment Test that will be used to measure the values, knowledge, and skills they currently possess. Students will answer 4 or 5 questions that are drawn from each of the six key foundation skill areas upon which our general education curriculum is built (Civic & Global Engagement, Communication & Information Literacy, Christianity & Contexts, Critical Thinking, Social & Scientific Inquiry, and Technological Solutions and Quantitative Reasoning). No test preparation is required; no books or notes are necessary. Students are strongly encouraged to answer every question to the best of their ability. 1 extra credit point will be awarded for each correct response. Extra credit points earned will be automatically factored into students’ scores but will not alter total points possible for the course (1010).
