ENGL 607 Discussion Board Forum
The student will participate in 1 Discussion Board Forum. The thread must be 400–500 words in length. The student must also reply to at least 2 classmates’ threads; each reply must be 100–200 words in length.(Outcome E)
ENGL 607 Micro-teaching Project
The student will teach a 7–10-minute lesson. The lesson must be recorded with a digital video recording device and uploaded to YouTube. In addition, the student must submit a lesson plan and documentation of research. The video session, lesson plan, and research must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Sunday of Module/Week 5. (Outcomes A, D)
The student will then watch and listen to at least 2 classmates’ micro-teaching sessions on YouTube. The student will post feedback to the Micro-teaching Discussion Board Forum by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Sunday of Module/Week 6.
Then, the student will write a 1-page analysis of his/her micro-teaching session, based on feedback received from his/her peers. The Micro-teaching Analysis is due by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Sunday of Module/Week 7.
ENGL 607 Journal Entries (4)
The student will reflect on what he/she is learning and experiencing as he/she journeys through the course. For example, the student will identify areas of concern, contemplate new ideas, and ask questions. The student is required to submit journal entries in Modules 2, 4, 6, and 8. Each journal entry should be at least 300 words. Hopefully, the student will feel free to write an informed discussion of their thoughts. Areas for analysis are decribed in the assignments for that week in the course. Each Journal Entry will be due by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Sunday of the assigned module/week, with the exception of Journal Entry 4, which will be due on Friday. (Outcomes A,B,C, E)
ENGL 607 Capstone Paper
The capstone paper will be a culminating project in which students explore through research and reflection an area of interest in the field of composition studies. The paper is due by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Sunday of Module/Week 7 (Outcome A)
ENGL 607 Final Exam
The Final Exam will be a combination of essay and objective questions and will be based on the textbook readings and presentations. The exam will have a 90-minute time limit and will consist of at least 25 objective questions and 5 essay questions. It must be completed by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Friday of Module/Week 8. (Outcome A)
