The student will write 2, 6–10-page Book Critiques in this course. Each paper must be formal, including the bibliographical entry, author information, content summary, an evaluation of strengths and weaknesses, and any personal benefits of the book to the student. (MLO: A, E)
HOMI 612 Sermon Analysis (2)
The student will watch and analyze an evangelistic sermon video for each of the sermon analysis assignments. The student will submit a 4–6-page written report on the evangelistic message which analyzes and critiques the content and delivery of the message, while noting strengths and weaknesses and the lessons to be gleaned. HOMI 612 Sermon Manuscript (2)
The student will write 2 full manuscripts for an evangelistic sermon from selected passages in this course. Each manuscript must be 15 pages and include an introduction, a clear thesis statement, sermon points under which the student will: explain, illustrate, and apply the text, and comprise a conclusion inviting hearers to respond by trusting in Jesus Christ for their salvation. HOMI 612 Sermon Conclusion Video
The student will submit a 10-minute YouTube video delivery of either your Old or New Testament sermon manuscript conclusions (as previously assigned in Modules/Weeks 5 and 8). The video will include: a brief synopsis of the thesis statement, the main points of the message, and a conclusion which invites all listeners to trust Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. The student must respond to each of the sermons posted by their fellow group members. Each reply must be 200 words. These responses will include an efficacy evaluation measuring the clarity of the presented call to trust Jesus as Savior and give others the opportunity to offer suggestions on improving content and/or delivery.
