Required word count and content will be posted for each discussion board. Each response will demonstrate course-related knowledge. Current Turabian format must be used.
RLGN 489 Biblical Theology Plan
This assignment allows for the development of a biblical theology and rationale for ministry. Students will construct a biblical theology of ministry and incorporate major areas of systematic theology in two parts. The first will be the application of theological terms for ministry contexts. The student will summarize her or his findings in Journal 1. The second part of the assignment will require the student to submit a ministry paper that will inform the student’s approach to developing a ministry strategy and event. The paper will reflect the following elements:
an adequate treatment of theological terms as they apply to ministry contexts
an understanding of spiritual formation as it relates to the whole person
an application of theology and formation for ministry contexts
This assignment must be 1,000–2,000 words, not including the title page and bibliography, and must incorporate elements from the course readings to date. The paper should also incorporate at least 3 biblical references. Current Turabian format must be used.
RLGN 489 Leadership Development Plan
Part 1 – Leadership Development Resources
The student will build a portfolio that contains several artifacts related to ministry development and planning. This portfolio will allow the student to develop a core of experiential learning components in this capstone course. This portfolio will include research of professional development sites, a ministry resume, and a cover letter.
Part 2 – Leadership Development Plan
The second part of this portfolio will include a leadership development plan. The student will develop a guide that constructs a biblical foundation of leadership, lists qualifications of good leadership, and concludes with an interview of at least one local ministry or church leader. The guide should be written in narrative form, include questions and results of interview, and reflect course readings and biblical references. This document should be 1,000 – 1,500 words, not including the title page and bibliography, if needed. Current Turabian format must be used and paper should be double-spaced, using 12 point Times New Roman font.
RLGN 489 Ministry Plan
Students are required to conduct a ministry event. This could take the form of a workshop, seminar, community event, Sunday school class, lecture series, Bible study, small group or youth event, or an acceptable alternative (pending approval by the course professor). In Part 1, students will identify a ministry plan for the local church or community. Once a plan is identified, students will develop a strategy for executing the event. The strategic plan will include a rationale, a list of objectives, and a strategic plan that includes identification of the location, targeted demographics, facility and material needs, number of volunteers if needed, potential permissions needed, a timeline for promotion, and a proposed schedule for the event.
Part 2 will include a promotional or marketing strategy, an evaluation or assessment model, and a method for addressing and evaluating spiritual formation.
Current Turabian format must be used in all formatting, including the title page, pagination, footnotes, and bibliography. This plan should be written largely in narrative form but can include listed items. Part 1 should be 500 – 1,000 words. Part 2 should be 500 – 1,000 words but should be combined with Part 1 and submitted as one document.
RLGN 489 Ministry Event
Students are required to conduct a ministry event. This event should be a minimum of 30 minutes but not exceed more than a one-day event. This could take the form of a workshop, seminar, community event, Sunday school class, lecture series, Bible study, small group or youth event, or an acceptable alternative (pending approval by the course professor).
Students will lead an event and provide at least a 5-minute video or audio presentation of some portion of the event. The entire event does not need to be captured digitally but at least one component of the live event must be provided. The event does not need to necessarily happen in the week in which the assignment is due, if the student would like to do something earlier in the course.
