Discussion boards are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to create a thread in response to the provided prompt for each forum. Each thread must be at least 400 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge and graduate-level writing with regard to content and style. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to 2 other classmates’ threads. Each reply must be 150 words. Current APA formatting must be used for bibliographical entries and in-text citations.
TESL 633 Language Analyses (4)
The student will analyze various activities that focus on a specific aspect of language, such as phrenology, morphology, syntax, and tense.
TESL 633 Term Paper
Students will develop a paper that reviews one aspect of grammar, pronunciation or lexicon and investigate how that aspect plays out in an ESL environment (e.g. How to teach clauses, How to improve pronunciation via minimal pairs - to enable students to learn language more successfully).
TESL 633 Initial Draft
The student will construct an initial draft of his/her final paper. The draft must be in current APA format and include all components of the final draft.
TESL 633 Final Draft
The student will research and write a 15–20-page paper that focuses on a facet of language that interests him/her. The final draft must be in current APA format and contain a minimum of 12 references.
TESL 633 Quizzes (5)
The quizzes will cover the Reading & Study material for the assigned modules/weeks. The quizzes will be open-book/open-notes, contain 5–13 questions, and have a 20-minute time limit.
TESL 633 Mid-Term Exam
The Mid-Term will cover the Reading & Study material for Modules/Weeks 1–4. The midterm will be open-book/open-notes, contain 27 multiple-choice, true/false, short-answer, multiple-answer, matching, fill-in-the-blank, and essay questions and have a 1-hour and 30-minute time limit.
TESL 633 Final Exam
The Final will cover the Reading & Study material for Modules/Weeks 5–8. The final will be open-book/open-notes, contain 27 multiple-choice, true/false, short-answer, multiple-answer, matching, fill-in-the-blank, and essay questions, and have a 1-hour and 30-minute time limit.
