Legal disclaimer page: use professional judgement

All WikiTrauma pages will contain the following usefully comprehensive preface under the heading - ”Use of Professional Judgement•

”The editors and authors of WikiTrauma have concientiously and carefully tried to ensure the identified diagnostic measures, treatment alternatives and drug doses in WikiTrauma to be conform to the standards of professional practice that prevailed at the time of publication.

However, standards and practices in medicine change as new data becomes available and the individual medical professional must consult a variety of sources. For this reason, only the most current pages of WikiTrauma should be consulted when information is sought.

These pages are wiki pages and the content can change anytime.

However, some pages representing local protocols currently in use will be blocked and special authorization will be needed to edit them.

Moreover, their use does not represent an endorsement of what should be done in any specific medical case, where the judgment and responsibility of individual health care professionals must prevail.

New edits are done regularly; do not rely on older versions. In addition, when prescribing medications, the user is advised to verify conditions of use and identify any changes of dosage schedules or contraindications, particularly if the agent to be administered is new, infrequently used or has a narrow therapeutic range.

WikiTrauma describes basic principles of diagnosis and therapy. The information provided in WikiTrauma is no substitute for individual patient assessment based upon the users examination of each patient and consideration of laboratory data and other factors unique to the patient. WikiTrauma should be used as a tool to help the user reach diagnostic and treatment decisions, bearing in mind that individual and unique circumstances may lead the user to reach decisions not presented in WikiTrauma.
