1978 was the first year the IHSA divided the state series into two classes. Minooka was in 2A, and played Lasalle-Peru in the first round of the regional and lost. Jack Dempsay was the MVP of the 1978. Gordan Baker was named most improved, and Dave Woodhead won the Sportsmanship award.
