The 2001 season started off with a 13-6 loss against Bolingbrook. However, they quickly bounced back with three wins after that. The goal for this season was to make it into the postseason. “We fell short of a conference championship this year but made it well into the postseason, which was our top goal,” said coach Mike Briscoe. As the season went on they did pretty well with three wins against Geneva, Oswego, and Fenton. This got them into the playoffs. They ended up winning against Woodstock and Freeport but fell short by losing at Bloomington 22-16 in the state quarterfinals.
