The 1957-58 boys basketball team started slow, racking up several losses to begin the season. After the New Year, they started piling up wins. They finished 2nd in the Fox Valley Conference tournament. They also participated in the Coal Valley Conference for the first year. In the Coal Valley Conference tournament, they lost their second game. After beating Plano in the first game of the district tournament, they lost to Newark in the semifinals in overtime.
