SPC Championship: 3rd
Final Race: Nico Cimino finishes 36th at IHSA 3A State Finals
Season Summary
Through many miles and races, the 2024 boys cross country team put together their best performance of the year at the SPC Championship on Oct. 18. They finished third at that conference meet, only behind state trophy winners Plainfield North and Plainfield South.
During the regular season their best finish was the Minooka Flight Invite where they finished 2nd as a team. Carter Wikoff won flight 6, Ryan Resar won flight 5, and Nico Cimino was 2nd in the top flight.
Cimino would be the top runner throughout the season. He was fifth as an individual as regional, where he led the team to a third-place finish, good enough to advance to sectionals. At the Normal West sectional, Cimino would finish 18th, qualifying him for the state finals as an individual. The team was ninth at sectionals, and failed to advance.
Cimino ran a great race at the state finals in wet conditions. He finished 36th overall with a time of 14:45, his best ever for 3 miles.
