1976-77 Boys Basketball

The boys had a very good season in '76-'77 with goals of winning Regionals and even going further to State. Some of the players had great seasons, including Larry Simotes. He broke a record at a Plainfield Tournament, scoring 95 points in 3 games. He broke the record from Ed Baker who had 93 points in 3 games.  The team did very well through the season, with at one point winning 11 games in a row. They showed great qualities with them being teamwork, hard work, spirit, and cooperation. They ended up winning the NEC championship, and the Regional Championship, but they lost by one point to Chicago Christian in the sectional championship.  For individual awards from Minooka, MVPs were Larry Simotes and Dan Mason; Most Improved was Scott Carnahan; and Jack Dempsey won Sportsmanship.
