The 2000-01 Minooka football started off the season with a loss, but slightly bounce back to finish with a winning record. The Indians won 20-14 to longtime rival Morris Redskins on Sept. 20. And the next week beat the Geneva Vikings in blowout fashion, to take the Homecoming win. Despite there winning record they finished 4th in the conference and could not make the playoffs. Minooka’s main defensive contributor was Kentucky alumni senior linebacker Dustin Williams, who was voted fan poll’s Illinois Defensive Player of the year and named to the all-state 2nd team. The Indians offense was led by Quincy University alumni junior quarterback Matt Wehrle, who finished the season with 1,047 passing yards.
