8th at State

1st at Outdoor Conference Meet

The 2017 boys track and field team had many stars, but the brightest was Soren Knudsen, who won the state championship in both the 1600-meter run and the 3200-meter run. This completed a distance triple crown for him after he won the cross country individual championship the previous fall. Minooka had two other all-state athletes in Brennan Loughran (pole vault) and Colin Marchio (100-meter dash). All three boys set school records in their events. Since he had begun coaching at MCHS, this was first year without assistant coach Mark Smith. He died the previous fall after a battle with cancer. The Minooka Invitational was renamed the #SmithStrong Invite to honor him. They also held the meet at Joliet Memorial Stadium.
