Objectives:
Students will identify and explain the purpose of contour lines and how they can be used to show the shape and edges of their hand.
Students will demonstrate they can distinguish between a contour drawing and a blind contour drawing by explaining how the artist uses their eyes and drawing hand in each technique.
Students will practice careful observation by drawing an object from life while focusing on its visible edges, shapes, and details rather than relying on memory.
Students will create a simplified contour-line drawing of their hand using continuous or carefully observed lines to describe its form.
Students will demonstrate craftsmanship and artistic decision-making by using line quality, observation, and thoughtful placement to create a finished drawing that clearly represents their chosen object.
