Value Drawing Modified

Objectives:

I can draw the apple, jar, and two objects of my choosing using the entire space available to me to create good composition

I can visually break them down into line and shape to help me draw the objects as seen

I can identify a light source by adding shading to my objects

I can remember that if the object is rounded or curves my shading will transition as it curves around the object; if my object is flat the whole side will be shaded the same as the light hits the object

Vocabulary:

Blended Shading-Shading that slowly transitions from light to dark; usually associated with an object that is rounded or curved as it slowly turns away from the light source

Composition- where you put things on your paper; the placement of the object; many times suggests using the entire space available to you instead of drawing what you see very tiny and in the center of the paper

Light Source- where the light is coming from as it touches an object

Object- the positive space; what you see; in this case the apple and the jar

Shading- showing how light affects an object; adding light to dark to create a three-dimensional look

Transition- slowly going from light to dark; you do not want a curved object to have a sudden change from dark to light, instead you want it to slowly blend from one to another so that there are no big changes in shading.
