Objectives:
I will demonstrate the ability to create a drawing with a close up composition where a bit of the head goes off at least one edge of my paper
I can demonstrate the ability to add a grid to the picture that I have chosen and understand how to crop an image
I will demonstrate the ability to create a drawing of a superhero face using proper proportion
I will demonstrate the ability to paint your superhero drawing carefully
I will add a highlight/glare in either/all eyes and metal to show how the light source is affecting the area
Vocabulary:
Composition- the arrangement of visual features on a work of art; where you put things
Grid Drawing- overlaying a picture with a grid then creating a proportionate grid on your paper VERY LIGHTLY and transferring what you see in each square on the grid into the coordinating square on your paper, this is an easy way to create a sense of proportion within your work
Highlight- showing where the light source lands on an object; when used to describe how the light source touches an area on metal we call it a glare
Light Source- showing where the light would be coming from
Proportion- relation in size, when one area relates in size to another area
Website Review Assignment: Please complete and submit
Using a grid helps create accurate proportions by dividing the drawing into smaller sections, making it easier to see and match the size and position of each part. By aligning features with the grid lines, you can ensure each element is in the correct spot and size, which keeps the overall composition balanced and realistic. This method helps artists focus on individual details without losing sight of the whole image’s proportions. .
