Objectives:
I will apply color using the pointillism method, layering dots to create texture, color blends, and shading in their dragon designs.
I will design my own dragon heads, incorporating imaginative features and personal stylistic choices.
I will demonstrate an understanding of how to create new colors and depth by layering dots of different hues close together. When you place two different colors together, they will mix to create new colors and create depth.
I will use small, controlled dots with markers will enhance precision and dexterity.
I will practice attention to detail and the patience required to fill areas with dots rather than solid coloring.
I will vary the density of the dots, thereby exploring how texture can be represented visually in my dragon head design
Blending: The technique of combining colors or shades so that there is a smooth transition between them.
Composition: The arrangement of elements (like the dragon’s features) in the artwork, creating a balanced and complete image.
Contrast: The difference between light and dark areas or the juxtaposition of colors to make parts of the design stand out.
Detail: Small elements that make up the finer features of the dragon, emphasizing unique characteristics like scales, horns, or eyes.
Hue: A particular shade or tint of a color.
Marker: A tool used to apply ink to paper, allowing for controlled pointillist dots in this project.
Pattern: A repeated design or sequence, which may appear in the dragon's scales, horns, or other decorative elements.
Pointillism: A technique of applying small dots of color to create a larger image, with colors blending when viewed from a distance.
Texture: The perceived surface quality in art, which can be made to look rough or smooth through the placement and density of dots.
Value: The lightness or darkness of a color, which students will adjust by controlling how close or far apart their dots are placed.
