I can demonstrate the ability to create an environment using foreground, middle ground, and background to create a sense of space within my painting tthrough overlapping

Neatness counts- I can demonstrate the ability to control my brush to make detailed, defined edges and fill in the paint neatly

Vocabulary:

Background- the area that is behind the subject, the animal should cover up part of the background

Environment- where the subject is, what is around the animal

Focal Point- the area within the work of art that is the main focus of the work; usually toward the center and is larger than other objects within the work

Foreground- the area that is in front of the subject, it should cover up part of the animal

Middle ground- the area that is not in front but not farther away either, in this case the middle ground will be your animal

Overlapping- placing one thing in front of something else by covering up a bit of what is behind with what is in front

Space- an element of art that deals with the depth of a picture, how far back a picture looks as if it will go into the distance
