Objectives:
I can demonstrate an understanding of basic kinetic art.
I can demonstrate the ability to use exact measurements to create art.
I can demonstrate an understanding of warm and cool colors
I can use folding to create a sense of movement within a work of art
I can demonstrate an understanding of using color to create highlights and shadows within a painting to create depth.
Vocabulary:
Color Schemes- Colors that are grouped together for specific reasons
Cool Colors: Colors found on one half of the color wheel. They are colors that remind us of cool things such as grass, water, ice, etc. Cool colors are blue, green, and violet.
Highlights- An area that shows where light is touching an object
Kinetic Art- Art that depends on or incorporates movement to create its effect
Movement: a Principle of Design that is used to lead a viewer's eye throughout a work of art. It creates a visual sense of motion.
Shadows- An area that shows where light is not touching an object because it is being blocked
Warm Colors: Colors found on one side of the color wheel. They are colors that reind us of things that are warm or hot. Warm colors are red, orange, and yellow.
Challenge: Choose an image other than a simple flower. You do not want your image to be too detailed and it still needs to make use of an opposite color scheme for each of the separate images.
Agamographs are named after contemporary artist Yaacov Agam. Yaacov is an Israeli sculptor that experiments with abstract and kinetic art (art that incorporates movement). In this form of art, the viewer is creating the movement. As the viewer moves from one side of the painting to the other, the painting changes. These works of art incorporate either two or three different images into one depending on the folds created. The folds make use a a zigzag pattern similar to that of a folded fan.
