Animal scratchboard
Objectives:
I can demonstrate an understanding implied texture
I can use various material to create my texture
I can demonstrate good composition by making use of my entire space; we chose a close up so that it used the entire space
I can add details to create my animal; I can show different areas of my animal and the form of it with the length and thickness of the texture added (if the nose is higher than the eyes such as on the dog in the next picture, the lines that I add and the direction that they are going will show that it is raised higher)
Vocabulary:
Composition- the arrangements of the visual elements or the parts on the paper, where and how things are added to your project; making use of the entire paper by creating a close up of your animal
Implied Texture- texture that you can see how something would feel but you are unable to actually feel the texture because it is just drawn
Real Texture- texture that you can see how something would feel and you are able to feel it as well
Scratchboard- is a form of direct engraving; the artist scratches off the dark ink covering tagboard to reveal white or color underneath it
Value- the lightness or darkness of a color; less lines are scratched out of the darker areas and more lines are scratched out to show that the area is lighter
