Objectives:
Students can roll an even slab approximately pencil-thick for structural stability.
Students will properly score, slip, squeeze, and smooth clay pieces to create strong attachments.
Students will construct a cylindrical mug form by wrapping a slab around a support form (saran-wrap-covered soda can).
Students will attach a base and handle securely to the mug.
Students will design and sculpt facial features to transform the mug into a monster or animal character.
Students will demonstrate craftsmanship by creating a stable, balanced, and smooth ceramic form.
Students will apply appropriate ceramic vocabulary when discussing process and techniques.
Students will follow studio safety procedures while working with clay.
