Creating:
Anchor Standard 1: Generate and conceptualize artistic ideas and work.
5th Grade VA

5th Grade VA
.1.5: Experiment with multiple tools and materials to create an impression of a landscape (using simple brushstrokes and layering colors).
Presenting:
Anchor Standard 4: Select, analyze, and interpret artistic work for presentation.
5th Grade VA

A.4.3: Apply elements and principles of design to solve visual problems (creating balance and structure in abstract landscapes using color and value changes).
Understanding Art in Context:
B.4.4: Recognize and understand the effects of culture, historical context, and artistic styles on art (learning about Alma Thomas and her role in abstract art).
