Objectives:
I can demonstrate the ability to shape and mold polymer clay to create a realistic dragon eye.
I can utilize various techniques, such as blending colors, marbling, and adding textures, to enhance the design of my dragon eye.
I can develop my dexterity and fine motor skills through detailed work with small tools and clay.
I can reflect on my creative process and articulate the decisions I made while designing and crafting my dragon eye.
I can demonstrate the ability to create a base for my dragon eye
I can demonstrate the ability to build layers through design patterns within my polymer clay to create a sculpture
I can demonstrate the ability to secure the glass eye within the setting through the use of polymer clay, attaching your coils over the top and bottom of the eye and then overlapping to keep the glass eye securely in place
Vocabulary:
Cabochon: A polished, non-faceted gemstone or glass piece used in jewelry making, often domed on one side and flat on the other.
Coil-rolling out clay into a long, thin, snake-like piece; we will be using two coils to securely attach the eye. One coil will be placed over the top of the eye and one will be placed over the bottom of the eye, then press lightly and overlap with your shapes to keep the glass eye in place
Detailing: Adding fine details to an artwork to enhance its visual interest and realism.
Marbling: A technique used to blend different colors of clay together to create a swirling, mixed appearance.
Polymer Clay- it is an oven bake medium that is similar to clay but is made of resin, polymers, and coloring agents. It is very versatile and does not dry out until baked
Sculpture- an art form where materials are worked into 3-dimensional objects creating height, width, and depth
Texture: The surface quality of an object, which can be smooth, rough, bumpy, or detailed.
