Karla Gerard Texture Landscapes

Objectives:

I can demonstrate the ability to create a simplified landscape

I can demonstrate the ability to show at least 7 different textures within your landscape

I can demonstrate the ability to add foreground and background by overlapping

I can demonstrate the ability to create a resist by using oil pastels for the pattern/texture details and watercolors for the paint

Vocabulary:

Background- the area in the back, something covers part of it up

Foreground- the area in the front, it covers something else up

Horizon Line- the line that separates the sky from the ground; it keeps everything from looking as if it is floating

Landscape- all visible features of a countryside or area of land

Overlapping- placing one thing in front of something else by covering up a bit of what is behind with what is in front

Pattern- repeating an element

Texture- an element of art that shows how something would feel

Watercolors- pigment that has been compressed into small "cakes" or placed in tubes, as you add water to them they create a type of paint that can be layered to make many rich value variations
