Metal Mask Tooling
Objectives:
I can create a Metal Mask using the process of tooling on metal
I can create a design that is symmetrically balanced
I can create Harmony/Unity in my design by repeating an element throughout the entire work of art so that everything looks as if it goes together
I can use my tools carefully and appropriately to work the metal so that my areas are crisp, clean, and emphasized
Vocabulary:
Balance- A Principle of Design that involves distributing visual weight evenly throughout the work of art; Balance can be formal or informal. It can also by symmetrical or asymmetrical.
Emphasis- A Principle of Design that involves drawing the viewer's attention to a specific area of the work of art
Harmony/Unity- A Principle of Design that involves having the arrangement of the elements give the viewer a feeling that all parts of the work of art create a coherent whole; it might be a repeated element that we see throughout the entire work of art that makes it look as if it all goes together
Symmetry- A form of balance that creates a mirror image between one side of the work of art and the other; its the same on both sides
Tooling- A process where you use tools to press into the metal to create height on the opposite side. Various tools and techniques can be used.
