Cupcake/Sundae Drawings
Objectives:
I can demonstrate the ability to use the grid method to create a drawing that is in proportion
I can demonstrate the ability to have an understanding of ratio and proportion
I can demonstrate an ability to draw what I see
I can demonstrate the ability to add highlights and shadows within my work to create a sense of depth and 3D
Vocabulary:
3D- having height, width, and depth
Depth- how far back in a space something goes
Grid Method- a method used to reproduce or enlarge an image that you want to paint or draw; it allows you to look at one small section at a time and transfer that small part to the drawing. As you continue to add each small section the larger picture emerges with each section of the grid increasing or decreasing by the same size
Highlights- an area where the light hits an object; it appears lighter than the other areas
Proportion/Scale- relationship of a part to it's whole; if the frosting is twice as large, the cupcake must be twice as large as well
Ratio- the relationship between two or more similar things in size
Shadows- an area where the light is not touching the object as it is being blocked; it appears darker than the other areas
