William August Biba was born July 26 1891 in Fillmore County, Nebraska to Albert and Josefa Kovanda Biba.
W. A. died May 24, 1971 at Lincoln, Nebraska and was buried in the Geneva Cemetery.
William attended country school through the eighth grade and graduated from Exeter high school in 1910. He furthered his education at the University of Nebraska where he studied civil engineering.
He became a registered professional engineer and for a while was employed as a municipal engineer.
William was married on August 11, 1916 to Anna Laun at Exeter, Nebraska.
They were the parents of two children Roma and James.
The family moved to Geneva in 1918 and William began working for Fillmore County as the county’s first highway engineer. W. A. also served as the county surveyor and state maintenance superintendent.
In 1931 the W. A. Biba Engineering Company was founded by William as president. He remained president of the company until his death in 1971.
In 1967, they built a building at 1660 R Street and moved the office from the Geneva State Bank Building.
After William’s son James completed his service in the U.S. Navy and graduated from the University of Nebraska with a civil engineering degree, he joined his father in the construction business.
James brought his sons David and Gary into the company and he retired after a 50-year career in the construction industry.
The family business was dissolved in 1998. Dave and Gary both turned their attention to other enterprises.
